Neurodegenerative diseases slowly cause neurons and other brain cells to die, robbing those affected by the disease of their memory, mobility, and other important functions.Â
There are hundreds of different diseases in this class, some common and many rare, and, despite their importance, not much is understood about them. There are few effective treatments and no cures for these life-altering diseases.Â
There is an urgent need for new and innovative research on neurodegenerative diseases. HudsonAlpha’s neurodegenerative disease research programs continue to make progress toward:
- Understanding genetic risk factors
- Improving diagnostic methods for early detection and disease monitoring
- Identifying targets for potential new treatment methods
The Memory & Mobility Program
The HudsonAlpha Foundation established the Memory and Mobility (M&M) Fund to support our scientists’ genomic research of neurodegenerative diseases. Since its creation, philanthropic gifts made to the fund have helped speed research into discovery and allowed our scientists to make significant breakthroughs.
The M&M Fund provides valuable resources to HudsonAlpha’s neurodegenerative disease research programs so they can continue pushing the limits of genomic research.

Your gift today will help find answers
Through gifts made to the M&M Fund, HudsonAlpha scientists have made groundbreaking discoveries on neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and ALS.
But there is still much work to be done to help the millions of people who struggle with these devastating diseases.
When you support the M&M Fund, HudsonAlpha can continue to make discoveries that change lives.
The HudsonAlpha Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the supporting entity for the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. This gift supports the Memory and Mobility Fund, part of the Scientific Advancement Fund. Tax-deductible contributions to the foundation are for the sole purpose of advancing the mission of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.
