Redstone Federal Credit Union Sponsors Third Annual DNA in Biotech Career Day at HudsonAlpha

Redstone Federal Credit Union Empowers the Next Generation of STEM Leaders Through Career Exploration and Professional Networking Opportunities at HudsonAlpha

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is a hub for the biotech industry in North Alabama, bringing together cutting-edge scientific research in human health and plant science, STEM educational outreach, and entrepreneurship in the life sciences all under one roof.

The Institute is committed to improving life through genomics, which means investing in the next generation of scientists, innovators, and problem-solvers. By making STEM education more accessible and engaging, HudsonAlpha helps prepare students for meaningful careers in STEM and biotech.

As a part of that commitment, HudsonAlpha welcomed 150 high school students from 19 schools across Huntsville City, Madison County, and Madison City Schools on April 16 for the third annual DNA in Biotech Career Day, a day of hands-on exploration of careers in biotechnology on HudsonAlpha’s campus.

Structured like a professional conference, the event offered students the chance to hear directly from HudsonAlpha STEM professionals including scientists, genetic counselors, biotech entrepreneurs, and marketing and communications specialists.

Throughout the day, students attended panel discussions and seminar sessions, participated in hands-on activities and a networking bingo game, and engaged in meaningful conversations with HudsonAlpha staff. From lab-based science to business roles that support discovery, students walked away with a deeper understanding of the many career paths available in biotech.

STEM experiences like DNA in Biotech Career Day are critical to help students build confidence in their abilities, dream big about their future careers, and establish the professional networks that will support them along the way. By providing real-world exposure to a wide range of STEM careers, events like this inspire students to see themselves as the innovators, researchers, and leaders of tomorrow.

DNA in Biotech Career Day would not have been possible without the sustained support of Redstone Federal Credit Union throughout all three years of the Career Day conference. The organization is devoted to supporting education throughout North Alabama, with a special interest in programs that build a stronger workforce by preparing students of all ages for future success.
