Naming Opportunities
Make Your Name Live on in Perpetuity
Since HudsonAlpha opened more than 15 years ago, philanthropy has played a key role in moving a vision to reality. HudsonAlpha researchers, experts in their fields, are working to solve some of the world’s most challenging problems. With your help, HudsonAlpha can continue to make groundbreaking discoveries. Researchers work each and every day because they know a healthier, more sustainable world is possible. Philanthropy is the vehicle that allows researchers to pursue new, innovative pathways and those results are then leveraged for greater support. We want you to be a part of the journey.
You not only get the satisfaction of helping HudsonAlpha create a healthier, more sustainable world, but donors also have several naming opportunities including positions, laboratories, common spaces or tributes. For a listing of opportunities, please contact the HudsonAlpha Foundation at foundation@hudsonalpha.org or 256-327-9446.
Name a space
In addition to the flagship building at 601 Genome Way, the 152-acre HudsonAlpha campus includes the Smith Family Clinic and the Propst Center. Join us as we continue to make discoveries that improve human health and global sustainability.
Opened in 2008, 601 Genome Way is HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology’s flagship building. The building brings together researchers, educators and entrepreneurs to work under one roof. Naming opportunities are available.
The Smith Family Clinic for Genomic Medicine was established to diagnose patients with undiagnosed and misdiagnosed diseases. Thousands of families, patients and professionals have visited the clinic. Naming opportunities are available.
The Paul Propst Center, located at 800 Hudson Way, features expanded opportunities for Educational Outreach, specialized research laboratories and equipment as well as collaborative spaces for entrepreneurs. Naming opportunities are available.
The Kathy L. Chan Greenhouse is a state-of-the-art 13,000-square-foot greenhouse that enables HudsonAlpha scientists to propagate plants in specialized environments that control temperature, lighting, humidity, and other elements. The greenhouse will support genomics-enabled breeding pipelines for new varieties of crops, environmentally sustainable energy sources through plant-based biofuels, and projects to reduce fertilizer use and toxins to increase grower yields and protect the environment.
Name a position
To recruit and retain top talent, HudsonAlpha has launched a new campaign to secure endowed and named positions throughout the Institute. Supporting HudsonAlpha through a named position or fund helps strengthen research programs and enables faculty to pursue big ideas. When donors choose to support an endowment or other named position, they are making an impactful investment in HudsonAlpha.
Endowed Faculty Chairs
An endowed chair, named for the donor, is one of the highest honors a faculty member may receive. It also becomes a permanent way to recognize top donors and can be a source of pride for a family for perpetuity. This level of support ensures investment in research as it provides ongoing income for years to come.
Distinguished Scholars
The Scholars program supports distinguished researchers who are focused on high-impact, high-risk projects. Distinguished scholar gifts may be for three, four or five years and give chosen scientists an opportunity to pursue important research. These gifts are outright commitments for a shorter term than endowments and provide a way to recognize donors for investment at a significant level. They also allow donors to choose a targeted area to support.
Postdoctoral Fellowship
Post-doctoral fellowships help support some of the brightest minds who have earned their doctorates and are embarking on highly specialized research alongside faculty members at HudsonAlpha. Supporting these scientists helps leverage the expertise of HudsonAlpha’s thought leaders by supporting exciting experiments and up and coming young scientists. These gifts can be for either short-term commitments (two years) or endowed.
Graduate Student Fellowship
Graduate students play a key role in the work of any research institution. Faculty members rely on their support. Whether they go into industry or academia, graduate students’ career accomplishments highlight the quality of their experience. Gifts for these fellowships provide essential support to fuel the next generation of scientists.
The HudsonAlpha Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the supporting entity for the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Tax-deductible contributions to the Foundation are for the sole purpose of advancing the mission of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology.
